Cat No LG0002A &
1905-09 Original Gowns
Comments by Kay Inverarity
Edwardian gown in greenish silk fabric is very sheer,
lined with glazed cotton in the same colour.
LG0002A: The bodice is trimmed with a cream lace yolk
and cuffs and the green oversleeves puffed in two puffs above
the elbow. The sash is missing and some green threads remain
around the edge of the yolk and collar indicating some form of
decoration has been removed from here. The bodice is generally
in good condition except for bad scuffing where the hooks have
worn the fabric under the worked eyes.
LG0002B: The skirt is lined with a foundation skirt
of green glased cotton with pleating around the hem. The outer
fabric is trimmed with two rows of scoloped ruffels with rosetts
at the front sides and back, the fullnes around the waste is
pulled in by rows of ruching. In good condition except one
split under the ruffle centre back.
Edwardian bodice in creamy organdie with a self stripe lattice
design, mounted on a lining of greeny blue glazed cotton. It
has a lace yoke and cuffs with puffed upper sleeves in organdie.
Pouched bodice decorated with lace insertion and diamante
buckles threaded with green blue satin ribbon. In good
condition except for some rust marks on the left sleeve.
